The Mamey Sapote is a large evergreen tropical tree that produces a large fruit that is both sweet and almond-like in flavor and beloved in the Caribbean.  On the outside, Mamey Sapote fruit is brown and fuzzy, but on the inside the deep golden red-orange pulp is smooth and slightly granular.  Mamey has a very unique rich flavor and is known as a dessert fruit.  Fruit can be eaten fresh with a spoon or frozen and made into thick smoothies, milkshakes or ice cream.

The Tazumal Sapote is a variety originally cultivated in Homestead, Florida in 1975, from a seedling tree sent from El Salvador in 1949. Tazumal Fruit is medium size with excellent quality pink flesh that contains only 1-2 seeds.
