Fulfillment Team Lead

Schedule: Full-time, including weekday operations and occasional weekend events

Position Summary

The Fulfillment Team Lead oversees all aspects of Sow Exotic’s order fulfillment and shipping operations. This role ensures that every customer order is packed accurately, efficiently, and beautifully—representing our brand’s commitment to quality, care, and sustainability. The Fulfillment Lead manages the day-to-day workflow of the Packing House, collaborates with the Nursery and Plant Care Teams, and keeps retail and packaging supplies organized and stocked.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the daily operations of the Packing House and fulfillment team.
  • Print, organize, and process all online orders and shipping labels through Shopify and ShipStation.
  • Ensure all orders are packed accurately, safely, and according to brand standards.
  • Oversee inventory of all retail and packaging supplies; place and track orders as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Nursery and Plant Care Teams to ensure plants are ready, healthy, and accurately labeled for shipping.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all fulfillment and storage areas.
  • Train and support team members in fulfillment best practices and safety procedures.
  • Communicate with customers when necessary regarding shipping issues, replacements, or tracking questions.
  • Support seasonal retail operations and events as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven leadership experience in fulfillment, logistics, or warehouse operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with Shopify, ShipStation, or similar e-commerce platforms.

Nursery Team Lead

Position Summary

The Nursery Team Lead manages all daily operations of Sow Exotic’s greenhouses and retail nursery, ensuring the health, organization, and presentation of the plant collection. This role provides hands-on leadership to the nursery assistants, coordinates plant pulling and preparation for national shipments, and brings the nursery to life for customers through events, merchandising, and educational engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily nursery operations, overseeing plant health, organization, and retail presentation.
  • Manage and train nursery assistants in plant care, order pulling, retail setup, and maintenance.
  • Pull and prepare all plants needed for national order shipments in coordination with the Fulfillment Team Lead.
  • Oversee watering, fertilizing, pruning, and general greenhouse care routines.
  • Manage retail displays, signage, and merchandising to create an inspiring customer experience.
  • Coordinate and host nursery events, workshops, and seasonal activities.
  • Maintain accurate plant inventory and communicate with management on restocks or shortages.
  • Collaborate with the Fulfillment and Plant Care Teams to ensure smooth transitions between greenhouse care, retail, and shipping.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and efficiency across all nursery and retail spaces.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer support and plant care guidance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Leadership experience in horticulture, nursery management, or greenhouse operations.
  • Strong plant knowledge, particularly with edible, fruiting, and medicinal species.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

Propagation & Plant Care Lead

The Propagation & Plant Care Lead plays a vital role in the nursery's success by overseeing plant propagation, maintaining plant health, and managing inventory. This role also involves delegating tasks to Nursery Assistants and ensuring smooth daily operations within the nursery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Propagation

  • Lead propagation efforts, including seed sowing, cuttings, grafting, and division.
  • Monitor propagation success rates and adjust techniques as necessary.
  • Develop and implement propagation schedules to meet inventory targets.

2. Plant Health & Care Management

  • Watering: Develop and manage watering schedules tailored to the needs of various plant species and growth stages. Ensure plants receive optimal moisture levels without over- or under-watering.
  • Health Monitoring: Regularly inspect plants for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
  • Pest & Disease Management: Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, including biological and eco-friendly treatments.
  • Environmental Control: Monitor and adjust irrigation, light exposure, humidity, and temperature to maintain optimal growing conditions.
  • Nutrition: Oversee fertilization programs and ensure plants receive proper nutrients at each growth stage.

3. Inventory Management

  • Track and update plant inventory, including propagated and ready-to-sell stock.
  • Collaborate with the sales and fulfillment teams to ensure plant availability aligns with demand.
  • Maintain accurate records of propagation success rates, plant losses, and inventory levels.

4. Team Leadership and Task Delegation

  • Assign daily tasks to Nursery Assistants, including watering, pruning, and plant care.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on propagation, watering techniques, and plant health practices.
  • Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

5. Research and Development

  • Stay updated on the latest propagation techniques and plant care advancements.
  • Experiment with new methods to improve plant growth, health, and production efficiency.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum 2 years in plant propagation, plant health management, or nursery operations.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Degree or certification in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field is preferred.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of propagation methods (e.g., cuttings, grafting, seed sowing).
  • Expertise in watering strategies and pest/disease management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Passion for plants and sustainability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs).

Order Fulfillment Assistant

This role focuses primarily on plant packing and care, with an added emphasis on quality control, and merchandising for tools and gardening supplies. You’ll play a crucial part in our operations, helping us share rare fruiting and medicinal plants with our customers nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Preparation & Packing: Accurately and efficiently pick, pack, and ship plants and gardening products, ensuring they are handled with care and reach customers in excellent condition.
  • Quality Control: Inspect all plants and products before packing to ensure they meet our high-quality standards for health, appearance, and durability. Identify and address any issues prior to shipment.
  • Merchandising: Organize and maintain the retail area for gardening tools, fertilizers, and supplies, ensuring items are displayed attractively and restocked regularly.
  • Plant Care: Assist with identifying and caring for a diverse collection of edible and medicinal plants, including tasks such as picking, pulling, pruning, watering and weeding as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Support the day-to-day management of both supply and greenhouse inventory, keeping everything organized, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to balance duties and maintain a smooth workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Tasks: Perform repetitive movements, including squatting, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs comfortably.
  • Outdoor Work: Handle varying Florida weather conditions, from hot and rainy to cool temperatures.
