This rare yellow Dragon fruit variety is available at Sow Exotic for a limited time! Dragon Fruit is a cactus native to parts of South America where it is typically known as Pitahaya. The cactus is an ornamental climbing vine, that features a large and impressive flower. It's flesh is snow white and tastes like a fruity pillowy cloud of deliciousness.

This plant comes from the family of 'moonlight cacti' indigenous to the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Many of the cacti in this family have flowers that only bloom at nighttime, activated by the moon's light.

Dragon Fruit plants are self pollinating and easily grown.  But keep in mind they require certain nutrient requirements to thrive and produce decent fruit. The best soil for these plants is a high moisture soil with lots of humus.

    Very healthy

I received my yellow Dragon Fruit plants 2 weeks after I placed my order. They were very healthy and packed very well. No mud was lost. I'm very pleased with these plants and will be ordering more.

The way they package these plants is amazing. Arrived healthy and ready to grow. The medium coir that i got is a little small, i was expecting it to be bigger. However, its healthy and will be that much more satisfying when i harvest in about a year.

    Small and Slow grower

I bought prior to freezing temps and the seedling was really small - maybe 6 babies (1”- 3” ). The bigger ones turned yellow and died within a month - I think because they got more sun. (even in winter) The smaller ones had the rim of the coco pot helping shade so I reached out to SowExotic and after talking about it - I moved them to shade. The FL full sun is just too harsh - Im glad I did this because the heat wave would have certainly killed it. I have now 2 babies maybe 2” tall. It’s been a few months and they havent grown much but maybe it was the winter. I wish I had bought when they were bigger as pictured in other reviews because I have been terrified for them on a daily basis. I will purchase again on restock

Thank you for sharing your experience with us Liz, your care and attention to these little ones is so appreciated! Yellow Dragon Fruit can be slow to take off, especially in cooler months, but it sounds like you made a smart move giving them more shade. We’ll definitely aim to send a larger, hardier batch next time. Shoot us an email at care@sowexotic.com when placing the order. Looking forward to getting you a thriving one on your next order! -Pat
