Manila Tamarind is a Nitrogen fixing legume that can survive dry periods and grow in most types of soil. Is tolerant of salinity. Likes full sun.
Fruits, or bean pods, are edible and can be eaten fresh or made into a drink similiar to lemonade. Indigenous folks of Mesoamerica used the pulp and bark to treat gum ailments, toothache and hemorrhages.
