The Champagne Loquat variety produces a very large, oval, white-fleshed juicy fruit. Fruit forms in large clusters and has deep yellow skin like most other Loquat varieties, however ripens a little later in the season than most. The excellent flavor is bright, tart, sweet, and somewhat astringent. Extend your Loquat growing season with the delicious Champagne Loquat!

The Loquat tree is a fast-growing, cold hardy, ornamental, fruiting, and medicinal landscape tree with a beautiful tropical look. This evergreen tropical to subtropical fruit tree tree has deep green leaves and delicious golden-yellow fruit.  It blooms highly fragrant flowers in the winter and produces and abundance of sweet, tangy golden-yellow fruit in large loose clusters throughout the Spring.

It is an excellent natural source of sugars, and the fruit is high in pectin making it great for jellies and jams. Loquat leaves can be harvested year round to make tea. The leaves and fruit have been used as traditional medicine for thousands of years.

Commonly referred to as Japanese Plum, Loquat is native to China and Japan, where it grows wild, is from the rose, apple, and pear family of plants. Loquat trees can live outdoors without protection in Zone 7. If your area is too cold to grow Loquat's outdoors year-round, the plants can easily be overwintered indoors and will grow and produce abundantly for decades in containers.

Champagne Loquat healthy seedling perfectly packed

I ordered two loquats of different varieties. They both arrived in great condition in coconut coir pots wrapped in plastic to conserve moisture and retain potting soil. Each pot was stapled down to opposite ends of the box, to keep them in place throughout shipment. I carefully unpacked each and placed them in bowls with a splash of spring water to wick up through the coconut coir. Over the next couple of days I up-potted each into a 5 gallon pot and placed them in a spot where they will receive sun and can be monitored until they are ready to re-pot again (e.g., 15-gallon) or be transplanted directly in ground into the garden. I have experience with loquats from decades ago in Southern California, where they were a common landscape and fruiting small tree in many older houses. Loquats are a sturdy, resilient small tree. Count yourself fortunate if you purchase a property with one already established. It will provide you many years of fruit and beautiful landscaping for your property.
