The Mushroom Herb is a unique and attractive protein-rich perennial herb that tastes like ~ you guessed it ~ Mushrooms!  Mushroom Herb is a leafy green, low-lying shrub native to Papua New Guinea.  It's a low-maintenance plant and does great in a container.   Leaves are thick and crisp, like spinach. They can be harvested all year long, but this plant should be over-wintered indoors in colder climates. The mild mushroom flavor intensifies when cooked and is a great addition to soups and stir-fries!

    Very resilient roots!

I love mushrooms. That is the primary reason why I got this. Upon arrival, it had a single stalk. I didn’t pot it up but it stayed in the little bag it came with (with daily watering) for at least a week with no issues. Once in the ground, the stalk was snapped at the base not long after by my backyard squirrels. I was devastated! It was hanging on by a tiny bit. I contacted Patricio about it (super nice, he is) and he said the roots should be healthy enough to regrow the plant. Right about when the stem was starting to dry out, I spotted a little sprout!! Once it was about 2 inches tall, it was snipped at the base - AGAIN. I was not going to go harming my squirrels (I was tempted for 5 seconds though) but I finally found a wire wastebasket that I secured over it with landscaping pins and I’m watching the third sprout grow. This time, undisturbed. Needless to say, I am pleased with my plant and I hope it thrives.
