Allspice also known as Jamaica Pepper, is a fragrant evergreen tree, native to Central America and the Caribbean. It is commonly found in wooded hillsides and hilly pastures in its native regions. Allspice can be grown as a short crop tree, or as a larger shade bearing canopy tree in agricultural plots and can reach up to 40 ft in height. It can be raised in smaller containers, and grown as a smaller shrub as well, making Allspice a great house plant. Smaller plants are susceptible to frost, but the larger established plants are frost tolerant.

As a culinary herb, it has many uses, and is an important spice in Jamaican and Arabian cuisine. The leaves, dried fruit, and wood can all be used in some capacity. As a medicinal herb, it has many properties, making it a versatile multi purpose medicinal. Our Allspice is propagated by seed and is capable of producing within a year. Cross-pollination is encouraged as the female trees are the only ones to bear fruit.
