Available for a limited time until our seasonal seed harvest. Shatavari, often referred to as the women's tonic or queen of the herbs, is a wispy, ground dwelling perennial vine in the asparagus family that is cultivated for it's medicinal root.  Shativari is native to Nepal, Sri Lanka, India and the Himalayas and is somewhat cold hardy.

In Ayurvedic medicine, Shatavari is an amazingly healing plant with numerous benefits but is most well known for being the quintessential herb for the female reproductive system.  It's nourishing and nurturing to the female organs and body tissues and has been used for centuries to promote fertility and improve female reproductive health, restore hormonal balance, support breast-feeding and pregnancy, help reduce symptoms of menopause, and even as a natural aphrodisiac.  Shatavari also falls into the category of adaptogenic herbs, meaning that it may help to regulate the body's systems and improve resistance to stress.  Typically used in tonic or powdered form, but the root is edible raw and has a sweet and bitter flavor.
