Dragon Fruit, White 'Vietnamese Jaina' (Hylocereus undatus)
The tropical white-fleshed Vietnamese Jaina Dragon Fruit is a most excellent variety of the fruiting cactus vine. It has great drought, pest, disease, sun and shade tolerance and exceptional flavor. It will grow great in a container and/or on a trellis. The fruits are oval in shape, and on average weigh almost one pound and are five inches in length.
Dragon Fruit, is a cactus native to parts of South America. It is known locally as Pitahaya. The cactus is an ornamental climbing vine, that features a large and impressive flower. The name Dragon Fruit comes from the fact that the bright yellow fruit bear thorns. It's flesh is snow white.
Dragon Fruit plants are self pollinating and easily grown. The bloom at night. Although Dragon Fruit plants thrive in loose, sandy, well-draining soils, keep in mind they require certain nutrient requirements to thrive and produce decent fruit. The best soil for these plants is a high moisture soil with lots of humus.
