Aztec Sweet Herb, also known as Honey Herb, is a fast-growing perennial evergreen herb native to Central America including Mexico, the Caribbean, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Aztec Sweet Herb leaves are extremely sweet, known to be 1500 times sweeter than ordinary sugar! Take a leaf and place it on your tongue to experience the incredible sweetness. Aztec Sweet herb is easy to grow as an annual or perennial in almost any climate. It grows as a sprawling ground cover, sending out horizontal runners and can be grown in the ground, in containers, and even in hanging baskets.
Although it's often only grown as an ornamental, Aztec Sweet Herb has definitely earned it's place in your culinary or even medicinal garden. It's beautiful purple and green leaves are best used fresh as a sweetener or in tea!
Aztec Sweet Herb is from the Verbenaceae family and may also be known by the common names such as Mexican Lippia, Bushy Lippia and Honey Herb. It's sweet flower buds are sold as dushi or dulce buttons.
