Nanche, popularly called Nance, is a very attractive slow-growing tropical fruiting shrub in the acerola family, native to the tropical and subtropical Americas. Nance produces small yellow-orange fruit. The tree can grow up to 33 ft. The fruit can be eaten raw, fermented (chicha), juiced, distilled, candied, or prepared in deserts or carbonated drinks.
In Central and South America, the Nance tree ranges from sea-level to an altitude of 6,000 ft. It is highly drought-tolerant, but not very cold hardy. Over-winter indoors if possible.Common names:
