Growing Guide: Caroline Raspberry

Growing Tips
(Also known as: Caroline Raspberry, Everbearing Red Raspberry, Fall-Bearing Raspberry)
Caroline Raspberry thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6–8 hours of direct light daily for optimal fruiting. Plant in well-draining, fertile soil rich in organic matter, with a slightly acidic pH preferred. Maintain consistent moisture, especially during flowering and fruiting, but avoid waterlogged conditions.

This variety performs best in moderate climates but shows improved tolerance to heat compared to other raspberries. It is hardy in cooler regions and can tolerate light frost, though winter protection may be beneficial in colder zones. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced fertilizer or compost to support vigorous growth.

Prune canes annually—remove spent floricanes after fruiting and thin primocanes to improve airflow and productivity. Suitable for both in-ground planting and large containers with support structures like trellises. Growth is moderately fast, and plants benefit from good air circulation to reduce disease pressure. Expect fruit production within the first year on primocanes, with peak yields in subsequent seasons.
